Two Ukrainian Military Personnel Killed in Germany While Undergoing Rehabilitation


The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that two Ukrainian military personnel killed in Germany were undergoing rehabilitation in Bavaria after sustaining injuries.

The incident, a double homicide, occurred on April 27th in the town of Murnau-am-Staffelsee, where two Ukrainian citizens, born in 1987 and 2001, were found with fatal stab wounds within the premises of a local shopping centre.

According to a statement from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided to the media outlet Ukrainska Pravda, the victims were identified as military personnel undergoing medical rehabilitation in Germany.

Further details reveal that a Russian national has been arrested on suspicion of committing the murders.

In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that Minister Dmytro Kuleba has instructed for the case to be closely monitored and to maintain constant communication with the law enforcement authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany to ensure that the perpetrator faces the full extent of the law.

Minister Kuleba also expressed gratitude to the German law enforcement for promptly apprehending the suspect.

The sequence of events leading up to the incident unfolded when reports of two men with severe injuries in Murnau surfaced around 17:20 on Saturday.

By the time medical personnel arrived, one of the men had already succumbed to his injuries.

The second individual, also critically injured, later passed away in the hospital.

According to a statement from the police spokesperson, as reported by Ukrainska Pravda, a 57-year-old Russian national suspected of the crime appeared before an investigative judge at the request of the Munich II Prosecutor’s Office, which is handling the case.

A warrant for the arrest of the Russian suspect was issued, leading to his immediate transfer to custody.

The ongoing investigation by the prosecutor’s office, in conjunction with criminal inquiries into the circumstances and motives behind the crime, remains underway.
