“Porsche, Driven By Dreams” expo set to woo auto fans at top Brussels museum

For 75 years Porsche has been building “dream” cars and a Brussels museum is set to pay homage to the famous brand with a new exhibition

Following up the exhibitions ‘Porsche – Electric to Electric’ in 2013 and ‘Porsche 356 – 70 Years’, Autoworld will host a new and unprecedented collection of exclusive Porsches from December 8th to February 25th.

In addition to the iconic cars, the exhibition also focuses on the people behind the brand, like Ferry Porsche.

The stories of international and Belgian personalities are also highlighted.Examples include Jacky Ickx, Johan Dirickx, Thierry Boutsen and Laurens Vanthoor.

Autoworld collected 9 Porsche concept cars never before exhibited in Belgium and, at the expo, shows them next to the production model.

The exposition – “Porsche, Driven By Dreams” – also showcases a unique collection covering the 8 generations of the illustrious Nine Eleven.

Renowned Belgian street artist Vexx, known for his Porsche Vision Gran Turismo that will be present until January 8, will be on site exclusively on December 7 and 8 with a Porsche themed animation.Another artist, renowned photographer Bart Kuykens, will exhibit his work.

Some 75 years ago, Ferdinand Porsche made his dream come true by building his own dream car.

That dream has since become history, from the very first 356 “Gmund,” built in a barn in the village of the same name in Austria, to other classics that have helped turn Ferdinand Porsche’s dream into reality.

The 991 RSR, 991 GT1, 919 Hybrid and Formula E Gen 3 are just some of the racing cars also on display that have made Porsche the most successful racing car brand.

Of course, the Belgian input is not forgotten with racing cars driven by such legendary drivers as Jacky Ickx, Thierry Boutsen and Laurens Vanthoor.

It was Ickx who made Porsche dream about the famous Dakar Rally and Autoworld honors Porsche’s successful Dakar past in a separate part of the expo.

During the three month expo, there is also a kids’ workshops where little ones can build the car of their dreams using Lego bricks.

A life-size Lego-Porsche will be on display in order to inspire the young Ferdinand Porsches.

On December 8th Autoworld hosts an exclusive preview night with, among other things, artistic demonstrations by Vexx and photographer Bart Kuykens. The highlight of the evening will be a “sound night”, when the sound of Porsche engines resounds like a symphony throughout the museum.
